Scope your first automation pilot
Agree acceptance criteria before connecting tools.
Write a scope brief
Describe the trigger, required information, intended outcome and owner of each step. List existing tools, observed volumes and the access that can be granted. Identify third-party subscriptions and services before making a commitment.
Prepare acceptance checks
Test a complete case, an incomplete case, a duplicate and an incident. For every scenario, write the expected result and who will approve it. A fictional demonstration cannot replace acceptance of the chosen process.
Plan operations
Decide who receives alerts, who can recover a record and how to stop the process. n8n documents hosting, configuration and operations; these responsibilities also apply when a tool runs on your own server.
Make a measured decision
The calculator below estimates time released using your assumptions. It is not a guaranteed cash saving. The DA3BOUZ planner produces a downloadable initial scope brief; access and feasibility still need review.
